CrossFit

What is CrossFit? Constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity, across broad time and modal domains. Functional movement is the stuff of life – squatting, jumping, pulling, pushing, lifting and throwing. CrossFit is never boring or repetitive. We use lots of different equipment and ways to train to get there – the constant is that YOU are always the machine!

CrossFit does what other fitness programs fail to do – achieve a high level of fitness across a number of domains including: cardio-vascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. What does that mean? As your skills improve in each area of fitness, your overall fitness increases – quickly.

In our one-hour group CrossFit classes, participants will be actively coached through multiple phases of fitness and recovery varying on any given day to include:

  • Dynamic warm-ups prepare the body for the workout;
  • Mobility/yoga to improve and restore joint mobility and function;
  • Skills and/or strength development – Gymnastics, Olympic or powerlifting (we are NOT bodybuilding, you will become strong, not bulky!) plus accessory work to help prevent injury;
  • Workout of the Day (WOD) – The conditioning aspect of the class that combines gymnastics, running, rowing, jumping, squatting, kettlebells, Olympic weightlifting, etc. for an allotted period of time or number of rounds;
  • Post-workout recovery to prepare you for the rest of your day and for your next workout and/or time for community.
